Parents. Yep. That’s us.
Since 2014 we’ve held the title of ‘parent’ and let me tell you, once you gain that title you enter a whole new world.
A world of responsibility, sleep deprivation and dirty nappies to being with, but a world where your little one is at the centre of it always.
We naively believed our lives would not change; that we’d still be able to go to restaurants, pubs, museums, etc with the kids. Oh how wrong we were! In the early days it was fine but once they were on the move it was mission ‘don’t let them touch anything’ and you had to have eyes in the back of your head.
This is why we were so pleased to discover Parentfolk and their Weekender events.
What’s Parentfolk?
Parentfolk don’t just host events. In an era where we are seeing print publications fold, Parentfolk are going against the grain and distributing their free publication [in print but also online] to parents who live in the North-West. Their content is full of cool stuff – amazing retreats, family holiday ideas, fashion, interviews with entrepreneurs, debate articles, etc so make sure you check them out.
The Weekender Events
We have been to a couple of Parentfolk events and each time we have had a fantastic day.
The last event we went to was titled ‘The Outdoorsy One’ and was based in a field at Claremont Farm on the Wirral. We were promised an event full to the brim with alternative cool family fun, including craft activities, pop up shops, face painting, DJ’s and tasty food. It did not disappoint!
The field was full of tents each with different offerings; a retail tent, calming tent, story tent, crafting tent, drumming workshops, mini disco, food vans, drink vans, ice cream vans, yoga, baby changing and feeding facilities, to name but a few! The sun was shining and we spent time going round the field, speaking to people who we knew, those that we didn’t and had a great time
